As an interim measure and pending reference to the proposed

Commission I would suggest the substitution of the following

The new scale would benefit the junior cadets,

and the question whether the scale taken as a whole is adequate to the work and responsibilities of officers of the

Cadet Service generally can properly be reserved for the

consideration of the proposed Commission. The new scale would

involve an average payment of £50 a year more than at present

for the first eleven years of a Cadet's Service.

There are

at present 15 Cadets with less than 12 years service, so that

the annual cost would be approximately £750 per annum. I

should be glad to see this scale applied as from 1st January,

1929, and provided for in next year's estimates.

Police Cadets.

The present scale of Police Superintendents'

pay begins at £325 per annum and increases by annual

increments of £25 to £800 after 19 years service, and

thereafter
